The September meeting for the Texas Panhandle ABP will be a lunch meeting (noon-1PM) rather than the normal 8AM meeting time. Lunch will be catered by OEM so rsvp’s are required. http://businessready.amarillo.gov
We are pleased to have Mary E. Dickson, Deafness Resource Specialist and Edith Tillery, Hearing Loss Resource Specialist with CSD of Texas Region 1 office in Lubbock. This is through the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) of the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS). Mary and Edith work with state and local governments, organizations, and businesses as they make their services accessible and readily available to people who are deaf or hard of hearing. They will be presenting some communication strategies, resources available, and items to consider in your emergency/disaster planning as they focus on people with disabilities, access and functional needs. We will also be working on inviting a few Amarillo reps from the deaf community to the luncheon should you have any additional questions.
Any business/organization in the Texas Panhandle is welcome to the Amarillo/Potter/Randall Emergency Operations Center. The main purpose of the group is to network, discuss recent emergencies/disasters, and enhance business/local government emergency planning. The group meets every other month, on the second Thursday normally between 8AM-9AM at the EOC (808 S. Buchanan). For additional information, please contact Maribel Martinez at 806-378-9315.
